Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft

The Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft (LBG) is a non-university research organisation with thematic foci in medicine and the life sciences as well as the humanities, social and cultural sciences. Together with academic and other partners, we operate the Ludwig Boltzmann Institutes (LBI) and the Ludwig Boltzmann Research Groups (FG) at various locations in Austria. These institutions are created after strict selection processes, initiate new research topics, can react flexibly to current social and scientific developments and conduct interdisciplinary pioneering research. At the same time, they offer scientists the freedom to think outside the box.

The Open Innovation in Science Center of the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft (LBG OIS Center) was founded in 2016 with funding from the Austrian National Foundation for Research, Technology and Development and is an important component of Austria’s official Open Innovation Strategy. The LBG OIS Center conducts research on Open Innovation in Science (OIS), develops Open Innovation in Science methods and offers training and consulting for the scientific community.

Role within Screen4Care

LBG contributes to WP2 with expertise in implementing open and collaborative knowledge production processes in research. Particularly the initial knowledge mapping of user/stakeholder groups within the S4C ecosystem (e.g., parents, other relatives, patients, supervisors, HCP, patient advocacy groups), the recruitment of the relevant stakeholder groups for being involved as co-researchers and the implementation of co-creation workshops.
