Swiss Institute for Translational and Entrepreneurial Medicine

sitem-insel is the Swiss Institute for Translational and Entrepreneurial Medicine. As a designated National Center of Excellence in Switzerland, its mission is to accelerate the translational process from laboratory discoveries or medical device prototypes into therapeutic or diagnostic interventions for patients. sitem-insel is uniquely positioned at the Insel-Campus Bern and benefits from its proximity to the largest Swiss university hospital (Inselspital) as well as to the largest medical faculty in Switzerland (University of Bern). In sitem-insel, a wide variety of units from the hospital, industry, research and education are networked under one roof and pursue innovation for the benefit of the patient. The architecture of the 20,000m2 transparent glass building reflects the idea of openness and multidisciplinary collaboration. sitem-insel supports medical technologies manufacturers in demonstrating the value of innovation to payers, regulators, and patients by leveraging extensive experience and expertise in health economics evaluation, mathematical modeling, and regulatory affairs.
